Afrobeats360 Artiste Of The Week: Peruzzi

The lyrical honcho.

Song making involves a lot of processes, with ‘song writing’ being a very important part of the whole process. The ability to carefully pen down everyday words to become lyrics to a song that when listened to, provokes a certain kind of emotion from the listener, is not the forte of even some of the greatest singers the world have come to know.
Well, as we continue to have that debate as to whether or not it is ideal for artists to buy songs rather than write their own songs, be rest assured that our artiste of the week– Peruzzi, will never be found wanting as he is a master in both song writing and singing.
From his first official single titled ‘for your pocket’ which featured LK kuddy and had his record label boss and friend Davido on the remix, you could tell that Peruzzi is not just any singer, but one that is able to convert his feelings and emotions into deliverable lyrics. And when the rumors became facts that he helped write songs for Davido and even Burnaboy, it cemented his place as a sort after song writer in the industry.
In all, fans of Peruzzi will forever be proud of his talent as a singer, songwriter and performer. And will have lots of hit singles, extended plays and albums to prove this.

Musical Journey

Peruzzi began recording music unprofessionally at the age of 7. He first got into the studio in the year 2007 and was later signed to GoldenBoy Entertainment in 2014. At this time he was called TC Peruzzi.
In 2017, Peruzzi officially released his first single titled ‘For Your Pocket’. Although the song was a ‘sleeper hit’, it caught the attention of Davido who continually vibed to it on his Snapchat. Eventually Peruzzi and the 30BG boss linked up and made a remix to the song.
Along with a remix, Peruzzi and Davido’s link up birthed a partnership deal with Goldenboy Entertainment and DMW, a deal that later went sour due to a breach of contract and saw Peruzzi permanently pitch his tent with DMW. And he has become an integral part of the record label, as Davido has said on several occasions that Peruzzi is one of the best things that happened to his career.

In 2018, the singer collaborated with the legend 2Baba to produce the hit single “Amaka” a music that brought him to limelight, increased his fan base and followership on social media. On December 21st he released his debut extended play titled– ‘Heart work.’ This 9 tracks Ep housed features from two heavy weights in the industry- Burnaboy and Davido and international act Popcan. With production credits given to Fresh Vdm, Phantom and Papi J. His single ‘Majesty” that became a hit in 2019 and featured Big Brother Naija runner up Cee-c in it’s visulas was also a song on the ‘Heart work’ Ep.
In 2019, he released ‘Huncho Vibez Vol.1’ his debut album. On this 10 tracks project, Peruzzi experiments with various sounds from reggae to EDM, after being called out for his obsession with the ‘pon pon’ sound on his debut Ep. But one thing still remains, his undeniable strong pen game. Tracks like ‘Gunshot’, ‘Nana’ and ‘Only one’ preceded the release of this album.
This year 2020 has had the singer bless fans with another Ep titled ‘3’ in it’s first quarter. He has also been featured by colleagues and for the later part of this year, he’s been dishing out singles off his soon to be released sophomore album titled- Rum n Boogie.
Peruzzi’s hardwork has not gone unnoticed in the industry as he’s been nominated severally and has won  couple of awards since making an entrance into the industry. Afrobeats360 wish Huncho the very best in his career.
Cheers to good music.
