Celebrities love the glits and glamour that comes with the lifestyle. You’d always see them hopping on the latest trends. So…. Who best to catch up on trends than those who do it best?
We’ve collected a list of fashion styles and trends we definitely saw with our Afrobeat artists this year. Here are a few fashion trends we definitely saw this year;
1. The Leather Jacket
When it comes to leather jackets, it never gets old. How you rock it makes the difference.

We watched as our artists showed the evergreen essence of the good ol’ leather jacket. Be it black or Red, it’s all about making that fashion statement.

Burna boy made several leather fashion statements. This piece with the double belt spoke volumes.

Mr Eazi pairs his leather jacket with the perfect leather pants giving his look a clear 90s vibe. Now that’s how you show up in leather!

2. 90’s Baby!
The 90s are far gone but the fashion, in such a short era, held huge impacts. Nigerian artists showed how far back they can go to express fashions’ immortality.
Falz The Bhad Guy rocks in this long plaid jacket. His pants had the loose boot-cut vibe similar to that of the 90s. He undeniably modernized this look to fit his identity.

Burna Boy, yet again, showed up in this 90s piece. It features patterns from the 90s used in expressing style. The tassels from his shoes are the best comeback move.

Socks? Check ✔️Turtle Neck? ✔ Khaki? Double Check ✔✔
Bella Shmurda was defiant with his fashion choice this year. To play the 90s theme and dominate in the game……. He is one to look out for in fashion.

3. Prints
They say “Only True Royals Rock Print”. Who? We of course!
Most people may have shied away from prints in earlier fashion. Today, people are being more expressive in their fashion choices.
Tiwa Savage was not afraid to go full-on print in her Billboard African Artist feature. What a way to look regal!

With Burnaboy is more confidence than we see. He totally looks untouchable in this piece; more like “The owner of Nigeria has arrived?”.

4. Tracks
Tracks have now moved beyond the field to the runway. A noticeable fashion trend in 2020 was tracksuits.
Rudeboy was not hesitant to rock this piece. With the shades and sneakers, he is picture perfect.

2Baba shows a laid-back side to slaying with tracks.

Going to work? Tracks work just fine. Ask Teni The Entertainer.

5. Denim👖
Denims probably existed before the big bang and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Rocking with denim gets newer and fresher. Designers keep inventing ways to make denim more iconic than before.
Yemi Alade takes this All-denim look and knockes it right outta the park.

Just like the leather jacket, denim jackets are evergreen. Chike’s designer seems to know what’s up. This classic denim jacket is sure unforgettable. Ruby’s cube? Why didn’t we think of that?

Tiwa Savage shows that it’s always how you wear it in fashion that counts.

6. Neon Green
Wearing hot colors in fashion is mostly seem as a bold move. Our celebrities have shown nothing less than bravery with their fashion choices. Neon green seems to be the brightest of them all and Yemi Alade did not back down on rocking a pair of neon green bodycon dress and fur jacket.

While on stage, Burna boy once again dazzles in neon green. Wonder why the African Giant would be less than bold?

Mr P rocks the perfect neon green Tee to complement his look.

7. Puffer Jacket
Who says it has to be cold outside to whip out the puffers? Probably the inventor…….. but everything works in fashion. There was a time when fashion was tightly governed by rules. Today, we understand that fashion is a true expression of self. So……….Release the puffers!!!
Bbnaija’s Laycon dazzles in this oversized puffer jacket. In general, we want!!!!

Joe boy in this white puffer jacket is the Nigerian-canadian dream. Snow on us!!!

8. Durags
Durags seemed to have gained more waves after the Lockdown season of Nigeria’s reality show, Big Brother Naija. Our artists seemed to have picked up on that trend.
Chike showed up to perform on same season with his durag held tight. Doesn’t seem like a fashion coincidence over here!!!!

Peruzzi seems to have embraced the durag look and it fits his status quite perfectly.

So, caught up on fashion trends? What did we miss? Nothing of course. What did you think about 2020 fashion trends? Did our artist do less than perfect? On our end, Corona virus did not stop their drip.
