In all, the singer has got three albums to his name, his latest titled- ‘Afro pop Vol.1’ released a couple of days ago. In addition to numerous hit singles that have brought him awards and nominations.

Early Life


Adekunle Kosoko better known as Adekunle Gold was born into the Kosoko royal family of Lagos State, Nigeria. He attended primary and secondary schools in Lagos a city in the Western part of Nigeria. Received a Higher National Diploma in Arts and Design from Lagos State Polytechnic.

Musical Journey


Adekunle’s interest in music began while listening to songs by King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey as a boy. He became a member of his church’s junior choir during his teenage years, and composed his first song at the age of 15.
Together with some of his friends, Adekunle Gold formed a music band called -The Bridge in 2010. Sadly the group had to disband after a while.
Flying solo in 2014, Adekunle became a social media sensation, known for photoshopping himself into pictures of his female crush celebrities. He was dubbed the “King of Photoshop”. With the huge attention he was getting online of his graphic art, Gold decided to introduce the world to his music. And on 19 December 2014, he released “Sade”, a cover of One Direction’s “Story of My Life”.

After the release of “Sade”, Adekunle released his first official single titled “Orente” through YBNL Nation (a record label whose logo Adekunle help design) after signing a music contract with the record label in 2015.
Sade and Orente became instant hits in the country. And Adekunle gradually sealed his place in the hearts of music lovers as a unique artiste pioneering the Urban highlife genre.

In July 2016, Adekunle Gold released his debut studio album titled Gold. The album is a 16-track project, with musical production from Pheelz, Masterkraft, B Banks, Sleekamo, Oscar and Seyikeyz. And features only one artiste- Simi, who is responsible for the mixing and mastering of songs on the record. Upon its release, Gold peaked at #7 on the Billboard World Album Chart. Gold was preceded by the release of three singles: “Sade”, “Orente” and “Pick Up”.
Following the expiration of his two years contract with YBNL nation, Adekunle Gold unveiled his band “The 79th Element” in reference to the atomic number of gold. And toured Europe and America.


About 30, which is Adekunle’s sophomore album, was released in May 2018. Under Afro urban records/ Empire platform. A 14 tracks album with 2 bonus tracks that deliberatly prepared fans for what is to come.- A more mature version of Adekunle embracing other music sounds.
For this album, Adekunle Gold expands his range working with the likes of DYO, Flavour, Seun Kuti and the Lagos Community Gospel Choir.
Adekunle married Simi, a colleague in a close-knit ceremony in January 2019.They welcomed a daughter in May 2020.


Afro pop Vol.1 his third studio album released on August 21 2020, sees Gold having a diverse take on popular music. It encompasses all genres heavily influenced by the singer’s Afro roots. Preceded by two hit singles: ‘Something Different’ and ‘AG baby’, Afro pop Vol.1 is a 10 tracks album with guest features from Patoranking, Nailah Balckman, Tekno and Olayinka Ehi.
Adekunle Gold’s growth in music and life in general is one that Afrobeats360 couldn’t be less proud of.
