Music industries all over the world have birthed promising artistes who took a life time opportunity to pursue their dreams, regardless of the many obstacles that comes along with this space. In all, making them masters in the art they love. Ghana Music sensational artiste, Kidi is no doubt a part and parcel of this growth.
Kidi who goes by the ‘real’ name Dennis Nana Dwamena was born in the year 1993 to Gerald and Beatrice Thompson.
Many parents look out for their children in so many ways in terms of feeding, clothing, schooling, housing and Kidi wasn’t robbed off from this list of necessities. After his primary school education, at ST. Anthony’s school in Kumasi, he proceeded to Accra Academy for his senior high school education. Afterwards, he went on to enroll in the University of Ghana Legon, where he graduated in the year 2016 with a degree in Economics and Information studies.
From his teenage years, Kidi always had a soft spot for music. While still in the University of Ghana, his love for music gave him the platform to perform on various “Moonlight Cafe” stages, a team that supports young underground talents and also give them the platform to enhance their God’s given talents. With the way Kidi’s zeal for music was growing, he recorded so many popular cover songs.
In 2015, Kidi took a major step by joining the MTN Hit maker competition and after winning, he was signed to Lynx Entertainment. All these was an added advantage for him to be known. He came into limelight in 2017 when he released his hit single “Say You Love Me,”‘ a song he composed, arranged and produced. He established himself as one of the fastest rising Stars in Ghana when he released another banging single titled “Odo” in July 17 and also did a remix with top Nigerian artistes Davido and Mayorkun in December 2017 which made fans all over the world get super thrilled. From here, life it was an onward journey for him as he dropped another single “Adiepena” in April 2018.
Kidi has rocked several stages ranging from 2017 Rapperholic concert, Ghana Music honours 2017 edition, December to Remember 2017, S Concert 2017, the 61st Ghana Independence celebration show in March at the Indigo 02 in London. He has also performed on the same stage with top talented artists like Sarkodie, Wizkid,Wale, Mzvee, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking, Efya and so many other artists.
He has produced several tracks for other artists whilst also writing for Ghanaian acts including the award winning Mzvee Adina and has also collaborated with artists such as Tic Tac, Ko Jo Cue, Magnom and Kwesi Arthur.
On his personal life, Kidi revealed that the arrival of his son, Zayne, birthed his success in the music world, in his words, “He brought blessing on my life”
Everybody sees music in different ways, for Kidi, he said,
“Music is how best I know how to express myself. I hope I do that well enough to get me the recognition and acceptance on the biggest musical stages the world has to offer, I hope to take music far as possible, the highest level”
In crowning efforts, the singer has been awarded winner of the Highlife Song of the year from Ghana Music Awards, Most Eventful Snapchat Channel and Best Artist Duo or Group in Africa contemporary hosted by AFRIMA.
Kidi is obviously scaling heights in his his career and we wish him nothing less than more success!
