Olubankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W came to limelight in his music career with the song “Ebute Metta.”

Though he had been in the Industry as early as 2002, The song ‘Ebute Metta’ officially kick started Banky’s career.

Released in 2008 as his first official single, the song was an instant hit. This could be credited to the fact that it sampled Rihanna’s 2007 hit song “Umbrella”. Though the singer was faced with lots of criticism for lack of originality, he however, came up with lots of tracks that proved his critics wrong.

Banky W who was born in the United States to his Nigerian parents, later moved back to Nigeria, with his family when he was five years old.
Afterwards, he returned again to the US to further his tertiary education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York on a scholarship. 

After his schooling in the US, the singer who was already in the music business decided to return to his home town to pursue his career. Fascinated by what he might face, the singer came up with the inspiring song “Ebute metta”

The RnB song talked about going for your dreams no matter your roots or where you are coming from. Banky used the song to encourage himself as well as his listeners to thrive beyond all odds.

The song was a huge success and helped push Banky to limelight.
