5 Songs ‘The Wizkid Effect’ Brought To Limelight

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid is no doubt one of the very best Afrobeats360 Stars in Africa and beyond.
He rose to prominence in the year 2011, when he released his lead single, “Holla At Your Boy” from his debut album “Superstar“.

Ever since then, the singer has shown his unique gift and special touch to every song he is featured in.

This has made him one of the hottest artist every one wants to feature, both locally and internationally.

With this, let’s take a look at: The Top 5 Songs The “Wizkid Effect” Brought to limelight , (in one way or the other)

R2bees “Slow down”

The song was released in 2013 by Ghanaian singing group R2bees. Wizkid in the song was a massive addition. Little wonder the song was a major hit, back then. Wizkid did a great job with the chorus, as this was arguably the best part in the song. Although the singing group delivered their part well, however, looking at the song without the Wizkid vibe, there would have been really nothing special about the song. Perhaps, the success of this song is the reason the duo went on to have more and more collabs with the Star, Wizkid.

They are no doubt great singers, yet, featuring Wizkid in the song “Slow Down” was a great move!

Olamide “Omotoshan”

Eight years ago, two youngsters dropped an epic track titled “Omotoshan”. The song saw Wizkid taking the chorus and a verse, whilst olamide delivered his rap line so well, as usual.

Wizkid did justice to the chorus and his verse paved way for Olamide’s rap verses, making the song an epic one. Indeed, it was a great collaboration by the two Superstars.

Though one cannot say Wizkid totally made the song a huge success, because Olamide’s rap lines were top notch. The bottom line is, it was a great collaboration!

DJ Maphorisa “Soweto baby” (Feat. Wizkid, DJ Buckz)

DJ Maphorisa is a South African record producer and DJ. In 2016 he featured Wizkid and DJ bucks, another South African in his song titled ‘Soweto Baby’. Wizkid took the first verse chorus of the song which served as a lead for the other the artistes to take their verses.

The song was a great one and a wonderful collaboration. Wizkid was obviously the major backbone to the success of the song. And one would even think he owned the song considering how good his verse in the song was.
In all, we cannot negate the fact that, the parent and the other featured artist did a great job.

In all, ‘Soweto Baby’ obviously would not be as successful as it was if Star boy was not featured.

Tenie Tempah “Mamacita“:

Credits to Star boy’s magical touch, the song “Mamacita” could just have been an average song, because the British-Nigerian rapper didn’t really wow us with his rap verses. However, all thanks to Star boy for the melodious chorus and verse. The song came out as a banger because one would not really take note of the down sides of the rap due to the well delivered chorus by Wizkid.

Bracket “Girl”

Wizkid, is known to always give his best in any featured song like it’s his did not dissapoint in this song. He brought so much energy and vibes to this song that the singing duo just had to flow like they were the ones being featured.

Wizkid took his verse and the chorus of the song, delivering both perfectly well. This gave Bracket little or no work to do, afterwards.

The work and energy Wizkid puts in anything he does is what speaks for him. He is so particular in bringing the best in all songs he works with and trust us, “That’s how Stars do.”
