Is Naira Marley Above The Law?

Naira Marley has faced serious backlash for organizing a concert that recorded massive attendance in Abuja despite the ban on gatherings and events of more than 20 people in the country put in place by government to help flatten the COVID-19 curve.

On Saturday, the Marlian president posted a video of him and his crew members alighting from a plane.

Kimoprah, Big Brother Naija star, who was the host of the show also flew down to Abuja with Naira Marley, despite the ban on interstate movement.

The concert which was initially marketed as a ‘drive-in-concert’ was held at the Jabi Lake Mall. However, concert goers flouted the social distancing laws and there was quite the crowd at the concert.

This is not the first time the artiste is breaking COVID-19 related laws as he was earlier arrested in April 2020, for violating the lockdown rules by attending actress Funke Akindele, and her husband Abdul Rasheed Bello’s house party.

After tendering a written apology to the Lagos State Government and signing an undertaking that he would comply with the government’s stay-at-home and social distancing directives, he was released.

Nigerians on social media have reacted to Naira Marleys second breach of lockdown rules.
