Genres: Afrobeats, Afrofusion, Reggae, R&B
Producer/Director: Jay Sleek and Patrick Elis
From the album ‘Warrior‘, Music legend 2 Baba came up with a single featuring The Odogwu himself, Burnaboy titled “we must groove”. This was his first album after 6 years.
The less than four minutes single was released on the 28th February, 2020. It was produced by Jay Sleek and the visuals was shot and directed by Patrick Elis.
“We Must Grove” came with so much vibey tune, with very rich lyrics which were full of hope and relief. The message came in handy as it encouraged people to never give up and always find a way to be happy in every situation. Perhaps a prophecy for the times we are in now.
Jay Sleek made use of his craftiness in creating and ensuring that the song became ‘a never stop listening’ jamz. And this became a reality to a large extent.
Patrick Elis on the other hand, did a nice job in shooting the video of the song, ‘We Must Groove.” Using vibrant colours both in the outfits of the superstars and the vixens, the visuals came out lit. Still about the video, we see the music legend in various shots, from the front of an apartment in the hustling and bustling streets of the city, to the roof top where so much energy was shared with Burnaboy.
2Baba had everything in one package, giving fans the sound of Afropop, Reggae, Afrobeats, Afrofusion and R&B. He switched to a Reggae Melody with a Jamaican style lyrics which was heavy amidst a fairly mid tempo, all these tagged along with the brass instrumentals which made everything crisp!
The song had everything in place, but it was hard for both artistes to keep up with the ‘groove’. In all, there was still a groove.
Both artistes have been doing greatly as individuals, and “We Must Groove” is the first song the artistes have done together since they started their careers.
At Afrobeats360, in the spirit of loving great groves and quality content we say:
Cheers to good music!!!
