We know this lockdown has really messed things up in different ways.

We understand it’s crazy, right? But what’s crazier is the fact that Afrobeat legend Fela may have seen this coming, making him proclaim the popular slogan ‘music is the weapon‘.
At a time like this when the whole world is on lockdown. Listening to sweet melodies will surely come in handy as a weapon to fight this boredom.

To this end, at Afrobeats360, we have sorted out 10 songs you should listen to during this lockdown. Vibes perfect for the season!

Here You Go!

Isolate – Teni

Yes! this is the perfect song for the lockdown as Teni features DJ Neptune on this one. From ‘The quarantine playlist’ Ep.

Here’s A Little Breakdown

Many of us didn’t really have time for our loved ones prior to the lockdown. It’s always been work, work and work most of time. Spending very few minutes each day with our loved ones.

On this track, Teni professes her love as always, and acquaints her lover on how they’ll ‘quarantine and chill’ all through this isolation period. As the 30 seconds they were spending with each other before the lockdown wasn’t enough. She also tells her lover to take his time as it will only be them and them alone in isolation. Warning: Make sure you do it with bae cus you will surely get goosebumps.

Away – Oxlade

While the singer Teni wants to be left in isolation at home with her lover. Fast rising act Oxlade, wants the opposite. He wants to run away to a place that is miles away from home but with his lover too. Off his debut Ep ‘Oxygen’, Away is one jam that’s making wave during this lockdown.
The verse one of the song has oxlade making promises to his older lover. Reassuring she’s the only one, after her it’s game over and he doesn’t care if she’s older in age. Sweet sweet love here!

The singer keeps the fire burning even in the he seals the song with a hook that tells the beautiful tales of a happy ever after love. As both lovers go to a place where no can dictate how their love goes.

Nobody – DJ Neptune, Mr Eazi and Joeboy

This song was released before the official lockdown was passed by the Federal Government. However, it’s still making so much waves during this lockdown. Days ago, it peaked at number seven on the ‘Billboard hot 100’ world digital chart.

Yes you read that right! That’s how huge the song is. It’s even being used for the #stayathomechallenge all over the world. Owned by Nigerian DJ Neptune, the two Empawa artists Mr Eazi and Joeboy featured on the track really brought their A game in.
While Joeboy and Mr Eazi made use of Yoruba language and Nigerian slangs to describe how pretty a lady is. They also used the chorus to make her understand they don’t want to see her with nobody else other than themselves. And we totally agree to being faithful in relationships, especially in this tempting quarantine period where various news are already flying. MJ – BadBoyTimz

This is the song you should ‘gbese‘ to during this lockdown. No hypes, the beat of this song alone will put you in the mood to move your body! Titled ‘MJ‘ which is short form for the great music legend ‘Michael Jackson’.

BadboyTimz effortlessly did justice to the beat with his lyrics on the song. Kudos! The song is produced by Semzi. This is definitely a club banger if not for the lockdown.

But you can set up your own club at home. And do well to slip this song in the mix as it would definitely set the roof on fire.

The Live Report – Mi Abaga and A-Q

The live report by hip-hop head Mi Abaga and co-founder of 1OO crowns A-Q, is another song making waves during this lockdown.

This is so because it’s a song that’s about the religious, political, financial economic, 5G and scientific conspiracies that have been making news since the outbreak of the Corona Virus.

The song has the two rappers sharing ‘fresh information’ on what is and what isn’t on the Corona Virus. As they try to relate the various conspiracies out there linking it to the truth about this virus that have put human activities on hold.

While they both hold different and separate beliefs concerning the present situation of the world and how these theories fit in, they still did justice to the track with their lyrics explaining their points respectively. And most of all, finding a balance in the end.
The big question the duo were asking on the song is Where is Africa in all of this? Are we just dancing to the tune of other continents of the world, while we still play the game of politics and corruption in every aspect of our lives?

Know you – Ladipoe Ft Simi

‘Know you’ produced by Somi Jones is a song about a young boy and a young girl that are dying to share their secrets and do things with each other. But they cannot do so as they don’t know each other that much.

The song starts with Simi singing about how she really wants to tell him how her day went, and would really love to spend the weekend with him. But then again, she remembers that she doesn’t know this boy she wants to tell and do all these things to. Ladipoe takes over, dropping bars of how he’s deeply in love with this girl that he really doesn’t know well.
This song is such a jam for this lockdown because it explains a lot. On a normal day we go out and we meet a lot of people. But do we really know them? Even if we can’t go out to meet people now. We have the time to really and deeply know the people around us (loved ones) at this point in time.

Although this song is just some days old. Trust me when I say it’s a song you should be listening to during this lockdown. Even from the snippet that was first released fans have been anticipating this song.

Eventually the song dropped and music listeners can’t seem to get enough of it.
The song basically is telling anyone who cares to listen to know their worth in life and in other people’s lives too. Khalid,Davido and Tems use the song to tell people to fall in love with people that value them and know their worth.
Not only did Khalid and Tems kill the song with their vocals, OBO did justice to it too. And fans of Davido haven’t been more proud of Davido on another international feature.

This song is arguably the theme song for #stayathomechallenge and #bopdaddychallenge for Nigerians during this lockdown. Lots of Nigerians have taken to social media to post videos of them switching clothes while this song plays in the background. All in a bid to kill boredom during this lockdown.
The song is just another ‘AkA’ for the president of the ‘sweet Boys Association’ Falz a.ka babyboy for life, Shege, bahdguy, the list seems endless. He lyrically highlights who a ‘Bopdaddy’ is on this track. He employs the lyrical prowess of Ms. Banks on this track who is a bopdaddy or should I say bopmummy now.
