It has been a whirlwind these past few days. The whole country is in “total” lockdown which means the only option is to turn to social media. These days, nothing escapes the eyes, even a one second post. In this case, it wasn’t a one seconds post.
Okay… Let’s summarize it for you
Funke Akindele’s husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello, had his birthday on the 4th of April.
Funke decides to plan a birthday party for him.
They invite guests from Amen Estate in Lekki, including Naira Marley.
They shot a video during the party.
They posted the video on social media, where over twenty people were gathered against the current self Isolation rule in the country.
People are mad.
Funke Akindele is Trending.
She is arrested.
Phew! Who saw it going there so fast?
Yes. We get the grevienance people have. The earlier everyone complies, the faster we can beat this pandemic and “Freedom at last’.
While there is a debate between the people in support of the actress and the human right advocates, some people have called on the NCDC to look into the matter.
Funke shot a video with Dettol, in collaboration with the NCDC, warning people on how to stay safe this period. It was quite alarming that an ambassador to the NCDC (as people believed) would flout all their rules.
Dettol finally came out with a statement clearly stating that “Funke is not a brand ambassador of the NCDC”
While this was already out of the way and Funke offered a public apology, NEWS came in that Funke Akindele was arrested.
Early this morning, Funke appeared in court and the results of the hearing is as below.
Bail is said to be at a hundred thousand naira.
Now, the controversy here is “Who is at fault?”
Is it Funke and Abdul Rasheed Bello for flouting the Self Isolation Rules?
Should they have posted it on Social Media?
Is the Public at fault for calling out this offense?
