COVID-19: Top Songs for Your Quarantine Playlist

Imagine the shock of being on day 10 of ‘Self Isolation’ and The President declares a 14 day self isolation……..At that point, we’re sure you questioned your past days like “was that a joke to you”?
Well, if you have been having a hard time staying indoors, you may want to read on.

I have always been an introvert..Yes..The Chronic Level (if that’s a thing). The idea was that “We would not feel a thing in these times”. Actually, this has proven to be false. Staying indoors as a choice, is very different from having no choice at all. There have been some down days which was surprising because it never happened before…..
How have I gotten over it? Music

Listening to music is a very good way of lifting the soul and I have gone out of my way to create a list of songs you should have on your  Quarantine Playlist.

1. Nonso Bassey – 411

It is still surprising that some people have not listened to this masterpiece. This is one of the timeless songs Nigeria has ever produced. One year and counting and can never get tired of this.

2. Master KG ft. Nomcebo – Jerusalema

This is one that can get you up and dancing to an impromptu unrehersed choreography. Heads-up: You may not understand a single word but you would love it still. Miss partying? You can throw a personal house party with this one.

3. Fireboy DML – What If I Say

Gimme love oh! This one is a must have… WARNING: You may have to keep pressing that repeat button. Getting the album ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps’ doesn’t sound like a bad idea too.

4. Chike ft. MI Abaga – Forever

It’s almost hard to pick a song from “Boo of the Booless”. The craftsmanship in this one makes it the best for your Quarantine Playlist. The talk about ‘Forever’ gives you hope for the future. These times would be over. Your Forever is waiting!

5. 2baba ft. Syemca – Target You

If 2baba is not on your Quarantine Playlist, who will? However, that is not the sole reason the song is a ‘must add’. The sound, lyrics, Pre-Chorus, Syemca, 2baba, everything….. It’s just perfect

6. MI Abaga – The Commandment

What sets ‘The Commandment’ apart is the storytelling and revelation in it. Well, you only have to listen to it to understand. While you’re at it, you could just opt for the whole Judah EP.

7. Rudeboy ft. Olamide and Phyno – Double Double

This one goes out to the single quarantiners. I have found that single people are more enthusiastic about love songs than….Okay this is not a shade…It is a call to add this to your playlist…Married, single, searching or otherwise. You can’t go wrong with this.

8. Mayorkun – Geng

Geng! Geng! Geng! Yes..  There are different phases on lockdown… If you’re in that fly mood, this would do. There’s something about this song that gets you feeling like the dopest person in the room (Yes, you’re the only person in the room so, it’s true).

9. Yemi Alade ft. Anjelique Kidjo – Shekere

You would get to that phase where the best sound that works for you is “Pure Afrobeat”. This song features every sound that can’t fail to get you moving your body. This is a must-have on your Quarantine Playlist.

10. Lynxxx ft. BOJ – She Likes

There is a vibe to this song that most people have not realized yet. You know those songs that stay on your playlist and one day becomes the best song you ever heard? The one you play on repeat throughout the day until you battery runs down? This is it!
