Watsup peeps!
I know it has been a crazy week. We’ve all been asked to stay indoors, practise social distancing, wash and sanitize our hands and clean surfaces regularly with soap and water. Please make sure you observe these practices as this is the only way we can quickly fight this Covid-19 pandemic.
Well, our ‘artiste of the week’, is one artiste that’s still running round town and touching lives of people despite all that is happening, while still observing social distancing and staying indoors. Like how is this even possible? He is no other person than ‘Runtown’. Ladies and gentlemen give it up for the ‘soundgod’ as he likes to be called. He’s our artiste for the fourth week of March 2020.

Early Life
Runtown, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer. He was born on 19 August 1989 in Enugu but grew up partly in Abuja and Lagos, where he finished his primary education. After the death of his father, he moved to Abuja with his mother, who was working in the Ministry of Health.
Music Journey
After moving to Lagos with Phyno in 2007, they formed a record label called ‘Penthauz’ during which he released his first two singles: ‘Party Like It’s 1980’ and ‘Activity Pikin’. But many of us started to pay attention to him in 2014 when he released “Gallardo” a song which featuered DMW’s front man Davido and was a banger back then. This song won “Best Collaboration of the Year” at the 2014 edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
In 2016, Runtown released a national love anthem titled ‘mad over you’. It was produced by Del B, with contributions from T-spize and Runtown himself. This song made it to every music chart in the country and artiste from different countries and continents made covers of the song. That’s how big the song was. People just couldn’t get enough of it.

Controversies
He’s one of the many artists in Nigeria that have been involved in the record label and artiste controversy, and is among the few ones to survive it and still holding it down in the music industry. Through the ups and the downs Runtown keeps running and isn’t stopping anytime soon.
Most Recent Work As At The Time This Article Was Written
He recently featured on the remix of Paul Play’s all time classic “Angel of my life”.
Few days ago, Rutown made residents of the Twitter community literally run mad over him as he credited a lot of people’s account to enable them stock up in this lockdown period that have made it impossible for many Nigerians to work for their daily bread. Rumor has it that the total amount of money he credited people is a whooping 10million naira.
So not only is Runtown about making music to keep people happy, he also goes the extra mile of putting a smile on their faces when it matters most. We are sure that fans won’t forget this in a hurry. And if you are one of those that got credited you can let us know in the comment section so that we can send you our account number too. Lol.

We here at Afrobeats360 are wishing him God speed and energy as he goes all the way to the top in his music career.
