Nevertheless the gravity of the global pandemic, Corona virus, the organizers of Glastonbury 2020 had shown their readiness to trill the world with Afrobeats as they announce two afrobeat icons, Burna Boy and Seun Kuti to perform at the Glastonbury 2020 festival.
Anouncing the artistes lined up for the show, Glastonbury festival unveiled that for the 50th edition, Burna Boy and Seun Kuti will be performing alongside global artistes like Kendrick Lamar, Tylor Swift, Diana Ross, Waterboys and other host of singers.
Taking to instagram to make the announcement, the Glastonbury Festival which is a 5-day celebration of arts of different nature and genre to happen in England, was said to come with a “but” that could lead to its cancellation or postponement if the effect of Coronavirus deepens.
According to the organizers, their intention was made known as amidst scare of the global pandemic.
“So, after much consideration given the current circumstances, and with the best of intentions, here is the first list of musical acts for Glastonbury 2020.
“As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so. No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!
“As always this is just a taste of what is to come, we plan to announce many more artists and attractions, area by area, over the coming weeks leading up to the full line-up in May. In the meantime we post this with much love to all.”
Quite unfortunate too, because if the Virus gets off-normal, there is possibility that it will be cancelled or postponed just like Coachella 2020 was even as Burna Boy and Seun Kuti had been anoounced to perform to the world.
Any which way, Glastonbury Festival seem ready, so this is a win for us as our African giant and Seun the son of Afrobeat lord, Fela Anikulapo will be playing to re-echoe the place of Nigeria music industry to the world.
We thought so too.
Send in your words to Burna Boy and Seun Kuti.
