“Rita Dominic Learned to Sing and Dance for ‘La Femme Anjola’- Mildred Okwo

We all knew that there would come a time where pure african music would be incorporated into the Nollywood industry. Nollywood Director, Mildrew Okwo announced the intending release of the movie ‘La Femme Anjola’. The movie is scheduled to hit the cinemas months from now but the dedication put into this piece is commendable.

Mildred’s movie featuring Veteran actor, Rita Dominic, and Nigerian Soul Musician, Nonso Bassey as the lead acts, seems to be keeping people at the edge of anticipation.

While the movie revolves around the character, Anjola (played by Rita Dominic), it is not all acting. Singer, Nonso took to his Instagram to reveal the commending words of the director. Okwo commended the ‘discipline and Perseverance’ Dominic and Bassey showed towards the character, stating it as ‘not easy’.

Quoting Nonso’s post, “Rita Dominic trained to sing, dance and be Anjola at the same time. Nonso Bassey took several difficult lessons playing the sax. So, months of dedication that required self discipline amd perseverance. It wasn’t easy at all.”- Mildred Okwo, Director, La Femme Anjola.

Maybe this would be a step forward to seeing more movies featuring the African music style. We’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds.

Side Thoughts

Sax and Baritone? Nonso is about to rock the music scene by storm.

Would Rita continue in the music line after the movie?
