In recent times, we have been seeing lots of music artists ply their trade in the movie industry too. From the likes of ‘Falz’, ‘BankyW’, ‘Reminisce’, ‘Simi’, even the great ‘2baba’ himself and many others. And some of these artists have even won awards in the movie industry, giving professional actors a run for their money and talent. Well the new passenger on board this bus is the ‘pick up’ singer Adekunle Gold.
In an interview with Jimi Disu of ‘Classic Fm 97.3 Lagos’, popular Nollywood sweetheart Richard Mofe Damijo disclose that some of the projects he is currently working on, are: a documentary film and a biopic based on the legend of juju music, King Sunny Ade.
Speaking on his journey through the entertainment industry as a Warri boy in Lagos, to being an actor and politician amongst other things, RMD gave little details about these projects and asked Jimmy and others in the studio to guess which music artist they feel would fit the role of the juju king perfectly? Most of them suggested Brymo, but RMD told them that while Brymo is not a bad suggestion, he feels that the ‘Orente’ croner would be more prefect for the role. He also didn’t give a specific date for the release of these movies but assured us that it will be released in time to celebrate the Juju king at 75.
What do you all think, Adekunle Gold or Brymo who would play the role of the King of Juju music better? Do let us know in the comment section, as we patiently wait for the release of these movies.
