Supreme Concert – Review

Nigerians are known to be super fun loving, strong and resilient beyond all the ups and downs that envelope the nation. To this end, the Supremacy Concert 2019 kept this fire burning in celebration of Nigeria’s 59th year of freedom.

The event, which is an annual celebration of Nigeria’s Independence was held at the Eko Hotel & Suites, on the late night of 30th September, 2019 into the early mornings of 1st October, 2019. (Yaass, it was something like a watchnight tingly) The concert was hosted by the ever hilarious Bovi, who painted the night with colors of so much fun, laughter, joy and merriment in totality. Cohosted by Toke Makinwa, who left the audience with a touch of her resplendence.

Immediately, after the national anthem was sung by 12 midnight, the event began in full force, with an ascending order of performance, starting with Dammy Krane who dished out most of his hit songs, especially his single- ‘Amin’.

In between a colorful dance performance and a display by Babs Cardini the Magician, Fireboy stepped out in grand style, adding to the flavor of the night with his- ‘What If I Say’, ‘King’ and his big bang- Jealous.

Next was the Reggae Popstar Patoranking   who hushed some vibes in the crowd by showing up a bit late after he was called out. However, he made up for the lapses by finishing on a skrrr note in the end. Need we forget to add that Pato got a gift of an art work from one of his diehard fans. This brought a bit of ‘fan love drama’ to the stage, as the audience were left in awe and admiration of the beautiful drawing, which could be seen even from afar.

Taking the night further was the legendary- King Sunny Ade, an undisputed entertainer who brought so much vibes and energy to the flow. To further buttress on his musical prowess, after his performance, Bovi noted that for every single day for the remaining part of this year, King Sunny Ade had been booked throughout. (Aside for just seven days excluded)

Indeed, this 75-year-old living legend and his band are best description of the word- Evergreen.

The next set of performances literally set the whole place on fire, with Teni bringing her usual hot hot vibes, releasing lots of screaming out of the audience, which ran into the performance of the Baddo himself- Olamide!!!

By now, the whole crowd were already on their feet, dancing to the all night gbedu nonstop.

Olamide finally ‘varnished’ from the stage just at the moment when the expectant fans were shouting his hit song, ‘Pawon’ in anticipation. Well, even though there was no Pawon offered, the night was still lit, as Zlatan popped up with Zanku and all his hit songs, including the trending Shotan, which featured the Queen Tiwa Savage. This songushered in  Tiwawith all her total package of madt entertainment and enough waist movements to the already lit stage.

Finally!!! Burna Boy stole the spotlight of the event, with the aura that came with his entire performance which was long anticipated for even before his arrival on stage.

With lots of intense screams, jumping and even guys pulling their shirts- just to flow into the king’s fire vibes.

His performance was the climax of the night, which left even Whites screaming at the top of their voices to his- Dangote, Dangote Dangote still dey make money

Oluwa Burna left the crowd echoing his songs even without the help of the DJ. No doubt his art stands out with not just his unusual rhythm and beat, but also his lyrics, which are very relatable to our everyday life.

With this, we are at Afrobeat360 are bold to stand tall and say that the Supreme Concert 2019 was a success! And we look forward to many more of this platform for musical gigs.
